RANDOM
THOUGHTS
Wow!!!!
On this day, God wants you to know
... that when you
pursue your dreams, every second is an encounter with God. Following your
dreams opens your heart, allowing God to enter and fill you with bliss.
I could apply this to
writing my novel. It's what makes me feel alive, and it's an adventure.
On this day, God wants you to know
... that it's time
you stopped hiding from life, and said yes to the adventure of being alive.
Enough of the routine already. Go on, have an adventure, - do what you always
wanted deep within your heart. Do what brings you alive, and the universe will
open doors where there were only walls.

01/21/2012 Menopause can be frustrating and comical at
the same time. Like when the lower half of your body feels like it's in the
arctic and the upper half feels like it's in the tropics. Or when your head
feels cold enough that you have to wear a ski hat indoors, but your body's
thermostat is turned way up and you're sweating. My kids remarked a couple of
days ago that I changed my clothes three times in one day. It's no wonder some
menopausal women feel like they're going insane!

It wasn't until I fell and sprained my
left shoulder this afternoon that I realized how much I use my left hand even
though I'm right-handed; how many pull-over shirts I have as opposed to
button-down; how difficult it is to get dressed or go to the bathroom or shower
when I can't use one hand/arm. Even driving is painful, especially when the car
goes over a bump in the road. I drove myself to the ER because I couldn’t get
anyone to take me there. They did x-rays of my left shoulder. They x-rayed both
of my knees because I fell hard on them and roughed them up. They said it
looked like I had sprained my shoulder, but there was no damage to my knees. They
sent me home in a sling. I quickly learned how hard it is to drive with one arm
in a sling, and had to take it off. I took two Percocet when I got home and was
still in so much pain I was gritting my teeth to keep from crying.

So I went to West End Orthopaedic
Clinic this morning. The doc showed me my x-ray which had been taken at the ER
on 01/26/2012 and pointed out a bone spur in my left shoulder. Then he asked me
if I could raise my left arm above my head. I tried. I could only get it
parallel to the floor. It looked like I was saluting Hitler. He did a
face-palm. Either that or he was tired. He tried manipulating my shoulder. I
cried out in pain. He jumped back, hands in the
air. He said, "Ok, I won't put you through anymore torture. I think it was
more than a sprain. I think the bone spur tore your rotator cuff. We have to do
an MRI." MRI is scheduled for 02/09/2012, with a follow-up visit 02/13/2012.
Matter of fact, I think there's a bone spur in the right shoulder too. For now
we're concentrating on the left one since it was injured. Oooooh boy. And I'm
supposed to be looking for a job right now (my Avon business is going to be a
side thing, if I continue it at all). If I get one, when can I start???? Oy
vey.
On
02/01/2012 I updated the “real age” test I took two years ago on RealAge.com. My
joint age is over 80! :-0 ... That's due to rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis,
and carpal tunnel syndrome. My "real age" is 53.1. Chronologically
speaking, I’m 49.

New Year's Resolutions (hey, better late than never, huh?) to be worked on
simultaneously in 2012: get a good job, improve my finances and get to a place
where I can pay bills on time, MAYBE start paying off student loans, get a gym
membership (maybe Curves or someplace with a heated indoor pool), improve my
diet (make healthier choices), de-stress my life, lose weight. It's gonna take
work, and I tend to get critical and down on myself because I'm a pessimistic
perfectionist. I'm gonna need a cheering section and motivators. Who's with
me???

The world according to Bear: Sometimes you just have to look at things from a different angle. |
Those who aren't
going through what I'm going through just don't have a clue about how much pain
I am in. Their attitude is, "Suck it up and deal with it. Don't ask me to
help you."
It’s hard to explain
to someone who has no clue. It's a daily struggle being in pain or feeling sick
on the inside while you look fine on the outside. Please be understanding and
compassionate toward anyone who has an invisible illness (PTSD, Anxiety,
Bipolar, Depression, Diabetes, LUPUS, Fibromyalgia, MS, ME, Arthritis, Celiac,
Cancer, Crohn's Disease, Heart Disease, Epilepsy, Autism, muscular dystrophy,
etc.) Never judge what you don't understand.
"At
any given point you can release your greatest self. Don’t let anyone hold you
back. Don’t let anyone dilute you. Don’t be peer pressured into being less than
you are. People willing to dilute themselves for the sake of others is one of
the great tragedies of our time. Stop letting others define and set the pace
for your life. Get out there and be your best. Do your best. Live your best.
Make every day count and you’ll see how exponentially more exciting, thrilling,
successful, happy and full your life will be." - Steve Maraboli
"Stop
letting others define you! Stop letting others dilute you! You weren't created
to live their life; you were created to live yours - so LIVE it! You can
reignite that fire within and bring the passion back into your goals, dreams,
ambitions, careers, and relationships by reclaiming control of your own life.
Be unapologetically YOU!" - Steve Maraboli
"Today
is a new day. Don't let your history interfere with your destiny! Let today be
the day you stop being a victim of your circumstances and start taking action
towards the life you want. You have the power and the time to shape your life.
Break free from the poisonous victim mentality and embrace the truth of your
greatness. You were not meant for a mundane or mediocre life!" - Steve
Maraboli
"Do
not dilute the truth of your potential. We often convince ourselves that we
cannot change, that we cannot overcome the circumstances of our lives. That is
simply not true. You have been blessed with immeasurable power to make positive
changes in your life. But you can't just wish it, you can't just hope it, you
can't just want it... you have to LIVE it, BE it, DO it.” - Steve Maraboli
"You
are not a victim. No matter what you have been through, you're still here. You
may have been challenged, hurt, betrayed, beaten, and discouraged, but nothing
has defeated you. You are still here! You have been delayed but not denied. You
are not a victim, you are a victor. You have a history of victory." -
Steve Maraboli
“People
tend to be generous when sharing their nonsense, fear, and ignorance. And while
they seem quite eager to feed you their negativity, please remember that
sometimes the diet we need to be on is a spiritual and emotional one. Be
cautious with what you feed your mind and soul. Fuel yourself with positivity
and let that fuel propel you into positive action.”- Steve Maraboli
"The
beautiful journey of today can only begin when we learn to let go of yesterday.
We all make mistakes, have struggles, and even regret things in our past. But
you are not your mistakes, you are not your struggles, and you are here NOW
with the power to shape your day and your future." - Steve Maraboli
"Love
is something you DO. I want to be in a relationship where you telling me you
love me is just a ceremonious validation of what you already show me.” - Steve
Maraboli
"We're colored
people and we live in a tainted place. We're colored people and they call us
the human race. We've got a history so full of mistakes. And we are colored
people who depend on a holy grace...Ignorance has wronged some races, and
vengeance is the Lord's. If we aspire to share this place, repentance is the
cure."
"I saw a man die
on the cross, and He forgot the mistakes I made. He loved me the way I was, and
He wants me to love the same. Lord, help me live like this. Lord, help me love
like this. We are a common people, each of us a fallen man. Let's find that
common ground and stop drawing lines in the sand. We are a common people living
in a common life. There are ties that bind us all when we look beyond the
lines. Common people, you and I."
